What do I need to work with starLiGHT.Engine

The starLiGHT.Engine is developed with C# which is the main development language of the XNA framework. It is possible to use any .NET-Language (VB.NET, F#, C++/CLI) to develop with the starLiGHT.Engine but only C# is officially supported.

You have to use the a Visual Studio Express edition of Microsoft with installed XNA GameStudio to develop with starLiGHT.Engine. It is distributed by Microsoft as Freeware. Even the commercial Pro-Versions of Visual Studio can be used.

You can use the starLiGHT.GameStudio for assistance while developing games but you are not force to do so.

You should start by reading the Tutorials linked on the Main Page to get an idea what you can do and how to do it or you should take a look at the Sandboxes included in the SDK. It is a very good starting point and shows you many features of the starLiGHT.Engine on the screen in front of you.
